Adobe enters the Ajax world with Spry. How does it stack up as a RIA devlopment tool?

Let’s face it, the development tools that you use and love quickly become outdated. The urge to hold onto the skills that brought you to the dance is strong but as technologies evolve, it is important to familiarize yourself with all the players.

The image of a company that sought to claim IBM had somehow inappropriately contributed to Linux development, a bizarre tactical strategy to leverage some kind of financial settlement from Big Blue if you listen to many industry analysts, is the one that pops into my head every time I see the letters S, C and O now.Not for much longer, I would imagine, considering that SCO was not in the healthiest of financial positions before…

Today,

Hey everyone!

I’m trying to get some general info and be pointed in the right direction to make kinda like a photo gallery where they can be dragged, and moved around like several squire images that can overlap one another, and if you click an image that is under another image, it will come upfront..

Any clue on how this might be done? Advice, tips, tricks..

anything would be a big help!

Thanks!

Today,  I’ve never heard of Janus (except Roman mythology - Janus is the name of an ancient Roman god who had two faces looking into different directions.). But it looks pretty much interesting. Till now I’ve used just Zinc, SWF Studio and now AIR, but inside of Janus there are features which are not inside of […]

Flash 9 (usning AS 2.0)

I am guessing this has been done before. I am looking for some guidance (or even better an example file). This is similar and may be based off of the tutorial on this site: http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flas…ynamic_mc3.htm - but instead of adding clips to the bottom - they need to be inserted in the middle as items are expanded.

I am looking to make a menu system in a fixed space that works similar to the tree component - but with the ability to attach and populate a MC from the library for each item instead of just a line of text with an icon.

This is a GIF of what I am talking about:

The main problem seems to be opening a sub-group and having all the top level items slide down the appropriate amount of space and also having the scroll bar re-adjust to the new MC height.

If anyone has done a similar project or knows of an appropriate tutorial - I would be very greatful for your help.

Today,  We’ve all heard of search engine optimization, or “SEO”.That’s the online search engine mechanism that allows online businesses to seed their web landing pages with key code words to entice visitors and shoppers.One big SEO term this week is “Black Friday” — the day-after-Thanksgiving shopfest that launches the holiday shopping season.Online retailers are already advertising their Black Friday shopping specials - - and getting good results. This leads me to believe that the holiday shopping season will be more robust than the notoriously negative national media would have us…

Today,

Basically, I want to make it so when the mouse is down a counter variable increases by 1 until the mouse is released.

Can anyone give me a little tutorial on how I achieve this?

I’ve got this so far, but adding loops to my onMouseDown function causes Flash to go bonkers.

Code:

_root.onMouseDown = function(){
_root.gravity ++;
}

The WHS solution is targeted directly at a family audience, helping them to protect, connect and share digital media and documents. The stay-at-home server delivers the same type of benefits that the corporate and academic server technology markets have been enjoying, but wrapped up within a simple and easy-to-use home solution. So, what do you get? Well WHS will automatically back up either Windows XP-based or Windows Vista-based home computers every night while at the same time providing a central hub…

I have used the tutorial for Hover captions found here:
http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx20…r_captions.htm

and I have searched the forum but can’t find an answer to my specific question.

I’d like to have the caption appear after the user hovers for 2 or 3 seconds—-rather than immediately.

I have been told to use setTimeout for this but am not sure how to do that.

Can anyone help me out—seems like a simple enough thing to accomplish!

thank you in advance!!
Lisa
